Wearing Suits Without Shirts Is Quickly Becoming the Hottest Trend of 2019

Menswear for women is not a new or hot topic. It’s become increasingly mainstream, and frankly, I’m not mad about it (all clothes should be gender neutral!!). More and more frequently, we’ve see celebrities ditching dresses and gowns for jumpsuits and pantsuits—both on and off the red carpet. Following in the footsteps of this movement is the latest 2019 fashion trend to strike the zeitgeist: suits without shirts.

Certain celebrities can pull off anything, be it a dress that looks like a Sesame Street costume or pants that are so long they literally drag on the floor. But when there’s an ensemble that every celebrity looks hot AF in, I will notice. In this case, that look is pantsuits with no shirt underneath. It doesn’t matter what style of suit, how baggy the jacket or blazer, or the even the color of the thing. Every celebrity I’ve seen sporting this look has looked so good I want to cry.

OK, so, here’s the deal: I first noticed a pattern when Lucy Hale posted several photos of herself clad in various suits starting in December 2018. (I sound like a private investigator looking for hot celebrities, but, like, it’s fine.) While one of the suits did, indeed, have a shirt underneath, one white pantsuit did not, and my journey to unpack this trend began.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

Since then, I’ve noticed countless celebs sporting the suit-without-shirt trend—all in different ways. Within the last week, four particularly hot shirtless suit ensembles entered my radar. The first was Shay Mitchell wearing a Kheir Sannai suit in Los Angeles. She looked amazing, obviously, and I bookmarked the ensemble for my files (in a really non-creepy, Pinterest kind of way).

Next, model Emily Ratajkowski tried her hand at the look in a pinstripe suit ensemble I feel truly blessed to have seen.

On Wednesday, Rita Ora stepped out in not one, but two suits sans shirt. Wearing two hot-ass suit looks in one day is an accomplishment bigger than when I won first place for handwriting in second grade. (It was a big deal at the time, OK?)

That takes us to Thursday, where my High School Musical idol, Vanessa Hudgens, rocked a striped shirtless pantsuit all night long. I thought Troy Bolton was my fairytale, but it was really Gabriella Montez all along.

As I said earlier, most of these shirtless suit looks were just in the last week. Suits without shirts is quickly becoming the most noticeable trend of 2019, and I am seated happily on the bandwagon.

Lucy Hale Imagines What Aria’s Storyline Would Be on the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Spinoff

It’s been two years since the end of Pretty Little Liars, but Lucy Hale has been keeping busy. She’s filmed a show, several movies, went on vacation and taken care of her mental health. Still, with the news of a Pretty Little Liars spinoff in the works for Freeform, fans are wondering: Will Lucy Hale appear on The Perfectionists?

“As of now, I don’t have any plans, but I feel like that show will go on for a while, so we’ll see,” Hale tells StyleCaster at an event for Honey Nut Cheerios’ Good Rewards program, in which families can earn points for one of three celebrities: Hale, Michael B. Jordan or The Gronk, with the winner earning $100,000 for their charity of choice. (“I’m in second place right now and Michael B. Jordan is in first, so I really think I’m going to knock him down to second place,” says Hale, whose charity is the ASPCA.)

And while Hale doesn’t have plans to star on The Perfectionists (which follows PLL’s Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal in a new mystery-shrouded town), she does have an idea for where her character, Aria Montgomery, is now. “What is Aria up to? It’s been so long that I don’t even remember where we left off,” Hale says. “She’s probably in the woods, in a cabin, hopefully living her best life. She loves writing. Maybe she’s writing a novel. No, she’s probably a very successful novel-writer, and she’s really rich with a castle and a lot of cats.”

Lucy Hale

Honey Nut cheerios.

Though Hale isn’t returning, two of her PLL costars, Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario, are coming back to direct episodes of The Perfectionists, which Hale is interested in doing as well, once she learns more about directing. “My focus is more on acting still and producing, but I definitely have interest there,” Hale says. “What’s so cool is they’ve kept it in the family and brought back Ashley and Troian to direct. I just don’t know enough about it yet, but if I educated myself, maybe we’ll check in in five years and see.”

As for if she’s spoken to her third PLL costar, Shay Mitchell, since she revealed her miscarriage in December, Hale responded, “I haven’t. I don’t speak on behalf of anyone. But I’m always happy when people speak up about things that are important to them.”

It’s really important we check in with ourselves and with each other, because it makes all the difference in knowing we’re not alone.

With 22 million Instagram followers and 7 million more on Twitter, Hale is aware of the voice she has, which is why fans will often see her destigmatizing issues close to her heart, like mental health. “There’s still such a taboo with talking about mental health, and I think it’s really important we check in with ourselves and with each other, because it makes all the difference in knowing we’re not alone, Hale says. “You hear ‘mental health’ and it sounds so daunting and scary. But it’s not. We all have our issues and struggles. I’m proud to talk about it, if anything, so if I can make one person feel less alone, then that’s amazing.”

However, Hale is also aware of the downside of social media and how people can often compare themselves to unrealistic images, which is why she’s conscious of making sure pictures of herself, whether in photoshoots or TV posters, are “as real as possible.” “With social media, it can be a little tricky because you see pictures of people that aren’t realistic, and it’s not necessarily healthy for people to look up to an unrealistic idea of what beauty can be,” Hale says. “Because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It changes for everyone.”

I’ve always said it’s a ripple effect. When someone feels less alone, they’re more inclined to talk about their story.

As for if she’s felt a shift since the #MeToo movement took force two years ago, Hale says she’s seen a “ripple effect,” but there’s still a “ways to go”—for not only her industry  but every industry. “We’re in a cool time now where women are speaking up about stories they’ve been harboring for a while,” Hale says. “I’ve always said it’s a ripple effect. When someone feels less alone, they’re more inclined to talk about their story. There’s definitely a change within my industry, but it doesn’t only happen in Hollywood. It happens everywhere. There’s definitely a shift, but we still have a ways to go.”

Lucy Hale’s Los Angeles Home Is Officially on the Market, and You Seriously Need to See It

If you’re looking for a new home and have $2.5 million to spare, you’re in luck. Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale is selling her Los Angeles mansion, and I seriously want to move in. The Spanish-style home, which was built in 2004, features four bedrooms and four baths—perfect for a family or if you just like having guests. It’s located in Studio City in Los Angeles, which, if you don’t live in LA and already know this, is a really trendy part of town. So, of course Lucy Hale’s house is there. The actress is moving on, though, and her beautiful home is selling for about $2.5 million (see the listing on Homes.com)—a small price to pay for a ~celebrity home~.

The 3,880 square foot home features a built-in dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and range hood in the kitchen—basically any chef’s (or aspiring chef’s) dream. I mean, how insanely beautiful is this kitchen? This could be the only room in the entire house, and I’d be happy.

There are also plenty of rooms in which to entertain—both a living room and a family room. I picture myself hanging out on the couch staring at those pretty hardwood floors, TBH.

Honestly, this bathroom is so ready for selfies. White tile and marble are so elegant, and whatever outfit you’re wearing would totally pop against those walls.

Plus, all this natural light is really adding to how much I love this home. Imagine having a casual breakfast while looking out over the Hollywood hills and basking in the morning sun. Ugh, a dream.

Seriously, this house has views for days. It would feel like secluding yourself in a super chic cabin away from it all. (When, in actuality, you’d be steps away from a bunch of cool LA spots.) I’m also just obsessed with those high AF ceilings. Heart eyes all day.

Plus, there’s a pool and lemon trees. So, I rest my case. Lucy Hale has the best taste of all time, and I want this home to be mine forever.

Lucy Hale Mixed Two Hot Trends In the Most Unexpected Way at the CW Upfronts, and I Love It

$

Every season, networks present new shows—or new seasons of currently airing shows—to the press, advertisers and the like. These presentations are what people in ~the biz~ call upfronts. And on Thursday night, at the CW Upfronts, Lucy Hale showed up in one of the most unexpectedly trendy ensembles I’ve ever seen. I mean, I knew the actress had sartorial chops, but this effortlessly cool look has me re-thinking everything I know about pairing trends. Hale’s outfit is serious summer wardrobe inspiration, and I am here for it.

Two of the biggest trends right now are animal print and Victorian-esque, puffy sleeve blouses. You’re probably seeing both everywhere. (I know I am.) If you’re not, though, just wait for summer, because these trends are slated to continue into the year. But would I ever think to pair the two trends together? Probably not, but Lucy Hale did the damn thing, and it looks amazing. The actress posed for the camera in an effortlessly breezy gauzy white top (a lot of Victorian vibes going on) and a Giambattista Valli animal print mini skirt from the designer’s spring/summer 2019 Paris Fashion Week runway. The structured, almost utility (another summer 2019 trend!!) mini skirt pairs so well with the flow-y sleeves and delicate lace of Lucy Hale’s blouse. The two trends are an unexpected match made in heaven.

Although the Pretty Little Liars actress’ most recent show Life Sentence was canceled after one season, she attended the CW Upfronts to debut a new show coming to the network: a Riverdale spin-off called Katy Keene. The series is slated to premiere mid-season 2020, and I, for one, cannot wait to see what kind of drama the CW cooks up for the actress. If Katy Keene is anywhere near as successful as Riverdale, Hale might just secure a longterm spot at the CW once again.

Lucy Hale Wore This $4 Red Lipstick to the Teen Choice Awards

ICYMI, last night was the Teen Choice Awards, where some of the hottest young stars came out to party in Los Angeles, CA. It was hosted by Lucy Hale, who is decidedly not a teen but is best known for her roles on young adult shows. She’s also known for her gorgeous beauty looks and her TCA makeup was no different. Not only was it girly and glam for the award show, but it’s also surprisingly affordable to get the exact look yourself. Although you might not be able to get celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan to come to your house to apply it.

“After seeing Lucy’s gorgeous red dress for the carpet, I was inspired to do a classic look with a modern twist,” Deenihan said in a statement. “Lucy’s claim to fame are her incredible fluffy brows, so I wanted to create a prominent brow look while adding a fun blush and red lip to compliment her features.”

Deenihan used all E.L.F. products to give Hale a look that only costs $60 total. But first, she prepped Hale’s face with Sephora Collection skincare. Then, she added Poreless Putty Primer ($8 at Target), concentrating the application to the sides of the nose and the forehead to keep her shine-free. Next, she applied Flawless Finish Foundation ($6 at Target) all over her face and 16hr Camo Concealer ($5 at Target) just under her eyes. To give her face color and dimension, she added the blush side of Aqua Beauty Blush & Bronzer ($6 at Target) to the high points of her cheekbones, and the bronzer side to lightly contour her face.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

Deenihan gave Hale’s brows a little extra oomph by brushing them up with Wow Brow Gel ($4 at Ulta) and filling in any sparse areas with Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 at Target). For her eyes, she used The New Classics Eyeshadow Palette ($14 at E.L.F.). She applied the shade Earth to define the eye crease and Charmer and Beloved on the lids. She finished the eyes with three coats of Volume Plumping Mascara ($3 at Target). Finally, the pièce de résistance was the red lip. Deenihan used Moisturizing Lipstick in Red Carpet ($4 at Ulta).

For her hosting duties, Deenihan switched up Hale’s lip to a brighter, more pink look. She used Sheer Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pink Peony ($6 at E.L.F.), which she says is ” transfer-proof and lasts all night.” It looks like it’s time for a Target run.

You’ve Def Seen the ‘Katy Keene’ Cast Before (& No, We’re Not Just Talking About Lucy Hale)

$

It’s hard to picture life before Riverdale. Since the show premiered in 2017, stars like Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and KJ Apa have blown up to become household names. So what will happen to the Katy Keene cast? ICYMI, Katy Keene, based on the Archie Comics of the same name, premieres on the CW Thursday, February 6. It’s the second spinoff to come after Riverdale following Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The show, which stars Pretty Little Liars alum and teen mystery legend Lucy Hale, is about an aspiring fashion designer named Katy Keene who moves to New York City chase her dreams. While there, she meets several other go-getters who are also in the Big Apple for their careers. Among them is a Riverdale character (more on that later.) But Hale isn’t the only Katy Keene cast member who seems familiar. Many on the cast have recognizable careers that are sure to blow up even more after the spinoff’s premiere. (Call it the Riverdale effect.) We dove into the IMDB pages and resumes of the Katy Keene cast to find out what their deals were before they became CW idols. Find out those answers ahead.

Katy Keene premieres on Thursday, February 6, on the CW at 8 p.m. E.T./7 p.m. CT.

Lucy Hale as Katy Keene

Katy Keene

Image: The CW.

We know who Lucy Hale is: She played Aria Montgomery on Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars. Then, she starred in her first post-PLL show, 2018’s Life Sentence on The CW. Life Sentence was cancelled after one season, but it was enough for the bigwigs at The CW to cast Hale as the lead in Katy Keene: Ms. Katy Keene herself. In the show, Hale plays an aspiring fashion designer who is trying to make in New York City. Anyone who’s read the Archie Comics knows that Katy Keene reaches her dreams and becomes that designer she wanted, but it wasn’t an easy road to get there.

Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy

Katy Keene

Image: The CW.

If the name “Josie McCoy” sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Josie starred in three seasons of Riverdale as the lead singer of Josie and the Pussycats and Archie Andrews’ short-lived romance. Josie left at the end of season 3 to pursue a music career, and lo and behold, she’s doing just that in Katy Keene. The spinoff is set five years ahead of Riverdale, so Josie is no longer a teenager but an adult who’s trying to make it in the music industry without her pussycats. Murray, who plays Josie, has been in the Netflix movie Deidra & Laney Rob a Train and the ABC sitcom Alexa, Inc. since Riverdale. Katy Keene has also been advertised as a musical, so expect lots of music from Murray and Josie.

Jonny Beauchamp as Jorge / Ginger Lopez

Katy Keene

Image: The CW.

Beauchamp stars as Jorge, a Broadway actor who also performs in drag under the name Ginger Lopez. Katy Keene sees Jorge put his Broadway career on hold to try to make it as a successful drag performer. Beauchamp, who played gender-fluid character Ray/Ramona Garcia in 2015’s Stonewall, told NewNowNext that he’s glad the role of Jorge/Ginger didn’t go to a heterosexual man. “It blows your mind, and I think we need more of it: a queer person playing a queer person. The best queer stuff goes to heterosexual men,” he said. “It’s high time we start allowing queer people to interpret and display and actually be the vessel. Since we’ve walked in the shoes, we can bring something that a heterosexual male maybe cannot. So I just feel really lucky that I’ve been picked to do that.”

Julia Chan as Pepper Smith

Katy Keene

Image: The CW.

Deadline described Pepper Smith as an “It” girl, who’s “funny, magnetic” and the “life of the party.” The magazine also calls the character the “epicenter of all things trendy,” who dreams of running her own fashion empire. However, there is mystery around Pepper’s life: No one knows how she has her money or if she really even has any. (Anna Delvey has entered the chat.) We’re not sure what will happen to Pepper in Katy Keene, but based on her fashion interests, it’s assumed that she and Katy will be either allies or competitors. Julia Chan, a British actor who grew up between Hong Kong and the U.K., plays Pepper. She’s also voiced Pickles Aplenty in BoJack Horseman and starred in show’s like Schitt’s Creek, Saving Hope and Gotham.

Camille Hyde as Alexandra Cabot

Katy Keene

Image: The CW.

Alexandra Cabot is a powerful New York socialite who’s trying to work her way up in her father’s company. She’s also the sister of Alexander Cabot. (More on him later.) As for Camille Hyde, who plays Alexandra, the Washington D.C.-raised actress has starred as young Jessica Pearson in Suits and acted in shows like Heathers and The Good Doctor.

Lucien Laviscount as Alexander Cabot

Katy Keene

Image: The CW.

Laviscount stars as Alexandra’s brother, Alexander Cabot. Alexander is the CEO of his father’s company who has real dreams of reviving a dead record company. Laviscount, a British actor, may be familiar to Big Brother fans. He starred in the U.K. version of Celebrity Big Brother in 2011, and played a series regular character in season 1 of Scream Queens. He was also set to play the lead in the Supernatural spinoff, Supernatural: Bloodlines before the show was nixed by The CW. Still, Laviscount must’ve made an impression on the network as he was cast a major character in Katy Keene.

Zane Holtz as K.O. Kelly

Katy Keene

Image: The CW.

K.O. Kelly is a boxer and Katy’s longtime boyfriend, who has dreams of fighting in a welterweight championship in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. For money, he works as a personal trainer and a bouncer. Holtz, a model and actor from Canada, was a lead in Netflix’s From Dusk till Dawn: The Series. He was also male model on America’s Next Top Model (fun fact) and has starred in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, Cold Case and NCIS. (So much probs much diff than Katy Keene.)

Katherine LaNasa as Gloria Grandbilt

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

Katherine LaNasa stars as Gloria Grandbilt, whose name seems eerily similar to fashion designer and socialite Gloria Vanderbilt. The character is described as a personal shopper at the luxury department store Lacy’s (a.k.a. Macy’s?), which caters to the rich and famous. LaNasa has had a lengthy sitcom career in shows like Three Sisters and Two and a Half Men. She’s also starred in the legal drama Judging Amy, as well as the HBO show Big Love.

23 Celebs Wearing Face Masks Because They Really Are Just Like Us

We’re more than three months into a global pandemic and for most of the United States, we’ll have to keep up social distancing and mask-wearing for a bit (a lot?) longer. It’s just a part of our lives now. And this goes for celebs, too. Celebrities also wear face masks while out and about picking up food or visiting friends. Sure, you’re probably seeing some stars socialize sans masks but we wish they wouldn’t, TBH. It’s great that (most) celebs are taking mask-wearing seriously and showing their millions of fans that it’s both easy and essential.

Although we’re wearing masks to protect each other from the spread of COVID-19, which is extremely serious, it’s okay to have some fun with your mask. It’s something you have to put on your face every time you go out so there’s nothing wrong with picking up a cute print or a one with a fun slogan. It’s also a great way to support a charity, Black-owned brand or an indie designer who is donating masks to those in need.

Check out some of our favorite celebrities in their masks, both simple styles and bold prints. Let it inspire you to grab a new one since it doesn’t look like we’ll be retiring them anytime soon.

Our mission at STYLECASTER is to bring style to the people, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Lucy Hale Dyed Her Hair Copper and Looks Red Hot

We’ve seen Lucy Hale go through a few hair changes in recent years. She generally goes from blonde to brunette and blonde again. We’ve never seen her with copper hair but Hale’s new red hair is just that—and it’s stunning. Her hairstylist Kristin Ess posted a little video of her client playing with her new hair with the caption: “@lucyhale has had every hair color under the sun EXCEPT red. My lil colorist heart is full and now we officially know this chick looks good with any hair color.” Seriously though, how does she do that? Every change is done seamlessly and flawlessly.

It seems like Hale is gearing up for a new project, which is the reason for the color change. Ess shared the details of how she created this color on the actress for any hairstylists who want to recreate the look. (It all involves two rounds of highlights, basically and a really great toner.) Ess makes one thing clear: permanent dye and lifting your hair at all should be done in the salon. This wasn’t done with Ess’s Signature Hair Gloss at Target (sorry!) but she did say Hale could use the Copper Penny shade to upkeep this color. Red fades fast.

Hale posted the video onto her own grid too (it’s that cute) and hilariously, celebrity look-a-like Sarah Hyland commented: “LEGIT THOUGHT THIS WAS ME.” We have to admit, they look even more alike now that Hyland also has auburn hair right now. Either way, they both look great.
